This week I had a video call with someone who watches my videos but had some questions.
I realized that there were some parts of my system which I just take for granted and assume others know too. It's the classic "curse of knowledge" problem where we assume that others know what we do.
This affects so many aspects of life; we may think our readers, listeners, or congregants knows more or less that they do. One way around this is trying to provide something that is useful for every person at various steps of their life. It's tricky to do and can't always be done in one piece of writing, video or sermon, but it's worth considering.
I want to make sure that anyone can use these tools so if you see some materials that aren't a good fit for you, I simply ask you think of a less knowledgeable friend who might benefit from them, and share it with them instead.
I have more videos to share this week and I really can't wait for my next two videos. I was just working on one but realized I had information I couldn't share publicly on screen for half the video! WHOOOPS!
Pro tip: hide your sensitive files and make sure they aren't open whenever you screenshare!
Passage
My son, if you will receive my words
And treasure my commandments within you,
2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom,
Incline your heart to understanding;
3 For if you cry for discernment,
Lift your voice for understanding;
4 If you seek her as silver
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
5 Then you will discern the fear of the Lord
And discover the knowledge of God.

Last Chance for Early Bird discounts on Obsidian Publish and Sync
At the end of September 2021, Obsidian publish and sync are doubling in price. You can lock in the early bird price if you sign up today. (Yes, this is me tipping my hand at my next Video).
So I've decided to try using Readwise in my Obsidian vault. I've seen some minimal benefits so far but I don't know if it will stick. In the meantime, R.W. Roberson publish his video (below) which I don't know if it was a response to mine, but certainly contrasts it.
I was interviewed by Abe Peters on his channel and got to show off how I would use obsidian to prepare for an upcoming series.
You could jump to the section specifically on using digital tools (including obsidian) for journaling OR compare some of the analog approaches too.
There's so much information, so how do we stay on top of it all? Regan share's his approach.

Overtracking and tinkering
Andy Hickman's tweet started a conversation between the two of us on the dangers of overtracking but it went into some other areas. I think you might find it interesting and I'd love to hear some other views too
